We Value

Engagement. DU professors and students are partnering with area scientists to develop applications for Vertical Tube Reactors that turn the nastiest of substances into clean water and “green” electricity.

Don't Forget

The University of Denver has a special web site for guidance counselors that provides valuable information for you and your counseling staff.

An undergraduate experience that is second to none

From their first day on campus until the last, University of Denver students are introduced to professors and subjects that shed new light on how the world works and how all the disciplines relate. The undergraduate experience is all about cultivating existing passions and discovering new ones, and we guide students through that process with programs that are second to none:

  • First-Year Experience—The voyage of discovery begins with a first-year mentoring seminar that introduces students to DU’s academic culture and to the expectations for university-level work. Small class sizes allow students to engage directly with their professors and with each other. The First-Year Experience program eases the transition to college by showing students how to succeed academically and socially, connecting them to our diverse and dynamic community.

  • Nationally Recognized Writing Program—Also during their first year, DU students complete a three quarter first-year inquiry and writing sequence in small sections of 15 students that strengthen their research and communication skills. Additionally, students complete at least one of their upper-level core courses in a 15-student writing-intensive section.

  • Experiential Learning Beyond the Boundaries—DU students have ample opportunities to expand their academic curiosity beyond the classroom through real-world experiential learning. Most DU undergrads take part in study abroad programs—in fact the university ranks second in the nation among doctoral and research institutions for the percentage of undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs, according to the 2008 Open Doors report. Students can also conduct research projects in collaboration with professors, explore internship opportunities to gain valuable career experience, and participate in service learning programs.

  • Broad Array of Academic Programs—DU students can choose from 65 majors and more than 100 innovative programs of study in a vast array of disciplines—everything from the arts, humanities and social sciences to business, engineering, international studies and the natural sciences. The University also offers dual-degree programs that allow students to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree concurrently in five years.

A University of Denver education is prized for our graduates’ successful outcomes, for the investments we make in student learning, and for our emphasis on excellence, innovation, engagement, integrity and inclusiveness. All members of the University community adhere to an Honor Code that serves as the foundation for a lifetime of ethical conduct and integrity. The value of a DU education can be measured by the professional opportunities it affords: job offers, admission to selective graduate programs, and highly coveted slots in medical and law schools.
